Auto Insurance Coverage

How do you know what car insurance coverage to purchase when there’s so many options to choose from? Direct makes understanding auto insurance easy and we can help every step of the way.

Here’s some auto insurance coverage definitions that could help you make your decision on what car insurance to choose. There are laws in each state for required auto insurance coverage, but there’s more options than the just the minimum auto insurance coverage.

Bodily Injury Liability

Bodily injury liability pays for your legal responsibility should you cause bodily injury to another person while operating your vehicle.

Property Damage Liability

Property damage liability pays for your legal responsiblity should you cause property damage while operating your vehicle.

Comprehensive Coverage

Helps pay to repair or replace your vehicle if it's damaged by a covered loss caused by weather events, theft, vandalism, fire or other similar events.

Collision Coverage

Helps pay to repair or replace your car if you're in a covered accident that involves other vehicles or stationary objects.

Uninsured Motorist Coverage

Pays for bodily injury and, in certain states, property damage sustained by you and other passengers in your covered vehicle in an accident for which the person legally liable does not have auto liability insurance or cannot be identified. In some states it also includes coverage for damages caused by at-fault drivers who have insufficient insurance to pay your claim.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

In states with no-fault auto insurance coverage, this pays, within state specified limits, for certain medical, hospital, funeral and/or work loss expenses incurred by you, other passengers in your covered vehicle and pedestrians if struck by your covered vehicle.
